Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how WhileStudy ("the Service", available at cards.whilestudy.com) handles information. WhileStudy is a flashcard study web application that runs in your browser.
1. Data stored locally on your device
Study lists you import (CSV/ZIP), their images and audio, and your settings (such as study language, Pomodoro timer, and display options) are stored only in your browser on your device (using local storage and IndexedDB). This data is not sent to our servers and is not shared with anyone. Clearing your browser data will remove it.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, basic technical information (such as browser type, device type, and approximate region inferred from your IP address) may be processed by our hosting and content delivery providers to deliver the site and maintain security. We do not use this to identify you personally.
3. Advertising
We may display advertisements provided by third-party vendors, including Google AdSense. These vendors may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance.
- We request non-personalized ads (NPA) for all users. Non-personalized ads are not based on a user's past behavior; they may still use contextual information (such as the content of the current page or approximate location) and are subject to frequency capping and fraud/abuse control.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can learn more and manage your choices at Google Ads and aboutads.info.
4. Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies may be used for advertising and for remembering your preferences. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Where required by law (for example in the EU/UK), a consent banner will ask for your choices before non-essential cookies are used.
5. Children
WhileStudy is a general-audience study tool and may be used by children for learning. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because children may use the Service, we serve non-personalized ads to all users and apply ad category filtering intended to exclude content unsuitable for minors. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us.
6. Your choices
You can clear locally stored data from your browser at any time. In regions with a consent banner, you can change your consent choices there. You may also use your browser or device settings to limit ad tracking.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
8. Contact
For inquiries about the Service, we provide a contact form powered by Google Forms. Information you enter in the form (such as an optional email address and the content of your inquiry) is collected and stored by the operator and by Google (the form provider) for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. This information is not used for any purpose other than responding to inquiries. For how Google handles information, please see the Google Privacy Policy.
